Brunch or Lunch? BRUNCH!

"Breakfast or lunch?" is what we find ourselves pondering on a Sunday morning. The answer: BRUNCH! Following up our dinner edition, we've compiled a list of our favorite brunch spots that are sure to cure your case of the Sundays.

ABC KITCHEN. 35 E 18th Street.
Jean Georges. Need we say more? You might need to plan ahead with reservations at this newly opened hot spot, but the month-long wait will be worth it - trust us.

BACK FORTY. 190 Avenue B at 12th Street.
This East Village gem may be off the beaten path, but it is well worth the trip. The southern inspired menu has chicken n’ waffles, steak n’ eggs & a variety of sides to satisfy any appetite. If you feel like indulging further, get an order of fresh doughnuts for the table. They don’t take reservation, but there is a reason people wait for a table at this hot spot.

CAFÉ CLUNY. 284 W 12th Street.
It’s one part femme & one part whimsy & totally lovely at the corner restaurant inspired by the French monastery that the name comes from. We love it for the fresh flowers on the bar, the crisp button downs worn by the staff & the properly portioned tasty dishes they serve.

ESSEX. 120 Essex Street.
What do you expect from a space that used to be a gymnasium? A bunch of raucous kids?  You wouldn’t be far off during weekend brunch at this LES space. The staff never lets a mimosa go without a refill. With a great boozy brunch special, groups can get pretty rowdy here - that’s why we love it!

EXTRA VIRGIN. 259 W 4th Street.
Extra Virgin has such a great atmosphere with fresh flowers, comfy bar seats (they have backs!) & mirrored walls. The menus is seafood heavy but still diverse - With everything from bacon wrapped scallops to rigatoni bolognas. Make sure to check out their daily classic items!

GEMMA. 335 Bowery.
Guests of the Hudson Hotel might have an easier time grabbing a table at this brasserie-style restaurant since they do often hold tables for guest of the hotel. Head over anyway Saturday or Sunday for a yummy brunch & excellent people watching. If no tables are available, make like you own the joint (or are at least staying there) & hang in the garden for a while.

GOOD. 89 Greenwich Avenue.
The Bloody Marys are extra good 2 doors down from Jessie James. We regularly recommend this spot to customers looking for good food for brunch, lunch or dinner.

PEELS. 325 Bowery.
Head over to Peels for an easy Sunday brunch in NoHo. Make a reservation if you’re on a time crunch. If you have timet o wait,, browse the decoupage two doors down at John Derian. They offer classic brunch options or you can just get a sampler of their delicious breads. Need some hair of the dog? The menu offers a hangover cocktail section - how kind!

THE SMILE. 26 Bond Street.
If you enjoy a quiet Sunday morning with coffee & the paper, this is your kind of spot. Show up early so as to not get kicked out for the people eagerly waiting for a table. The greek yogurt with fruit & nuts is a healthy option & one of our favs.
