Hi All
Cheques were encashed for my and my wife's I-485, I-765, I-131 application.
I have received the receipt numbers for all from the back of the cheques.
When I access the receipt number for one of the I-765 Uscis shows the following update :
On September 19, 2007, we received this I765 APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION and request that we waive the filing fee. We have waived the filing fee and mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case. Please follow any instructions on this notice. We will notify you by mail when we make a decision or if we need something from you. If you move while this case is pending, call customer service. We process cases in the order we receive them. You can use our processing dates to estimate when yours will be done. This case is at our NEBRASKA SERVICE CENTER location. Follow the link below to check processing dates. I heard that Mexico does not require any visa for the short-term trip. I doubt If I go by road, will they take my current i-94 at the border and give new i-94 while coming back.

Don't worry. You will mostly get RFE but not a rejection.
My original 140 got denied as per USCIS web site but lawyer didn't get the denial notice even after 60 days. Lawyer followed it up but no response from the USCIS.
I filed 485/AP/EAD and got approvals for EAD. Lawyer refiled 140 without original labor and is almost certain that they will raise an RFE but not denial.

The timing of this visa bulletin is suspicious. Right at the nick of time, when the senate is discussing increasing EB quotas, this news comes in. Plus they are saying that there will be forward movement, in the EB cut-off dates in the coming months to rhyme with the current negotatitions in Congress on CIR/ SKIL.
IV should not step behind in their legislation efforts. Even, if visa bulletin dates are current today, they might retrogress later, when the I-485 application starts to process (Current I-485 processing time shows applications processing as of Sept. 10, 2006, which is 8 months before). No one knows, if eight months from now, the cut-off dates will retrogress further or advance, due to the BEC closing out in Sept. 2007 and PERM applications processed from March 2005 onwards.
This may be a valid suspiecion, we may not ruled out ...

Kirupa, thanks but when I started a new empty xaml file to test your code I got quite a few errors. I'm using the June 2.5 Preview so I don't know if that's the cause of the errors but I've attached a screenshot with the code and errors.

GE is not a person. All of GE employees as well as share holders pay taxes on their income. Why do you want to double tax the companies and make them go out of business? Thats one reason companies have to setup operations in tax haven countries.
It's as if the wife has to pay taxes on her salary and then the husband has to pay taxes on the pocket money he gets from his wife as monthly allowance to run the house hold. (Just reversed the traditional places of husband and wife for fun).
So, can I stop paying sales taxes when I buy any goods out of my 'after tax' earnings???

I am in similar situation,
But my wife will not be having a valid visa while returning and she will not have her AP before leaving US.?
I would mail the AP once it is approved and can she come back with AP?
If she doesn't have AP approved or H4 visa stamp, her 485 application could be treated as abandoned when she leaves US.

Well, are we all not trying to be Americans? So what�s wrong with cheering for the guy who makes this nation proud? If we were ALL trying to permanently migrate to India, in that case you will not see any opposition to Bhindra's achievement. I personally think that there is no need to make issue out of "this" or "that" on the forum for everything going on in the world. Both these gentleman and others who did well are remarkably disciplined human beings and we ought to celebrate their perfection, maybe by trying to be closer to perfection showing a little more appreciation for each other.
Although I must quote a reporter on the news recently who said "When we wave Americans flags, we want to be called/seen as patriots and when others wave their flags, we call them nationalist". I found this comment very interesting.
The point is, no matter what, we will find our differences superseding anything and everything in front of us under any given situation. That�s just Great�. maybe that�s part of being human �. do we expect ourselves to behave/react better than this�. Maybe we just want others to behave better than "this".

It is clearly written in the instruction of I-765 that :
"Adjustment applicant who filed for the adjustment under the fee structure implemented July 30, 2007"
Note that it is not whether you filed on or after July 30, 2007 but the fee that you paid for I-485. I don't know why people don't even read the basic instructions coming along with the applications form!
Simply, this is the rule. If you have paid higher fee for I-485 then you don't pay fee for EAD (new or renewal). otherwise you must pay the fee. . As most of the people who filed before Aug 17, 2007 would have paid previous lower fee and those who applied know very well that they applied in August as part of the 'faisco'; it was basically a July 2007 filing with older fee.
Many lawyers don't know anything other than making money.
