Meh. Integrated stuff always fails first. See VHS/TV and DVD/TV combo units, or the lack of updates (and eventual phase-out) for TVs with built-in cable or sat tuners. I'll take it separately, thanks. My $8 HDMI cable is an amazing computer-to-TV device, does a great job.

While I agree, I just can't come to think of any other way to display the phones OS. And with pushing ios like apps on the Lion, I just do not see a new look happening. Not when it is so popular. Notifications on the other hand....
People seem to be moaning (no offence intended) about iOS notifications a lot recently but I don't remember it happening before a couple of months ago. Why is that? I'm a Mac user but not an iOS user so I wasn't aware they sucked so much.

I am new here to the forum and was wondering if anyone could advise why only some of my contacts have matched accross?
Is it due to the fact that some of my numbers start +44 in my phonebook and they may start 07.... in facebook??
not sure what credentials it uses to compare and match the different phonebooks i.e name, number ect.

The bottom line is that the Christmas number one is a popularity contest. It is meant to be what record is the most popular at that time of year.
Until last Monday no one had even heard the X factor song, so given that Killing in the Name has been around for 17 years means it was already more popular, how can an unknown song be most popular? People are just buying Joe McEldery because it's the X Factor song, not because of how good it is. Most of them probably only buy one single a year! Fair enough, a lot of them will end up unwanted presents!
The whole thing was for most people just a bit of fun, most of the participants are fully aware of the irony of being asked (told) to buy that song given its lyrics. I think to suggest otherwise is mis-judging people.
Having looked at a couple of chart websites already, it makes me smile to see that for once X Factor isn't going down in history with another Christmas number one.

For a short while, maybe a year or so, and the effect was pronounced, for those of us who use London buses. The mayor rolled it back from the central/western areas recently and long-term impact studies seem a little scarce in terms of car driver numbers. The carrot was also introducing cheaper bus and tube fares by means of the Oyster Card, a card with an RFID chip in it to speed passenger boarding with pre-paid tickets.
Using a bus in the UK, or London at least, doesn't quite have the same stigma it seems to have with some people in the US... although the distances involved are probably shorter than perhaps the average US commute.

OS X absolutely *kills* all the other OSs, as most of us know (especially with 10.2). You won't see that with a Windoze update. Upgrading to ME is sort of a 50:50 deal, whether you upgrade successfully, or upgrade in heck. And constant Windoze upgrades come in the fashion of "kill a bug/get one free". But as long as you don't have upgrader cards or such with your Mac, OS 10.2 really doesn't need so many updates, except for add-ons and stuff.

What do you mean here, to "spend some of his money for the economy"? It's not like Trump will donate half his profits to pay down the debt of the United States. Like any other wealthy person, he's doing his best to increase wealth for himself. And it's far more likely that he'd implement policies that would help to increase his ability to accumulate wealth.
Arnold Schwarzenegger, when elected as governor of California, told the voters that since he was already rich he wouldn't be beholden to special interests and made it seem as if his wealth would give him an advantage in tackling the budget deficit that the state faced. Eight years later, the deficit remained unsolved and Arnold's accomplishments as a leader could best be described as mediocre.
The talent and ability to accumulate wealth is different from the talent and ability to govern. Please don't confuse the two. And please do look more deeply into Trump's background. He is far more of a self-promoting huckster than he is a leader of the people. Donald Trump is in the business of Donald Trump, and this is simply another opportunity to spread his brand.

I may end up waiting for the inevitable 3DS "lite". $250 seems like a lot for a handheld console and I am not impressed with the battery life. Quite frankly I am not impressed with the launch lineup either. A few of them are games I would buy if I had the 3DS already, but they're not exactly console sellers for me.
Plus Pok�mon Black & White will keep my DSi in fairly good use for a long while. :D

my thoughts: iOS 5 will have a new revamped UI. The dock will now have a launchpad icon that will bring up all the applications. There will be no need for badges as the notifications will be present on the main page just like widgets. There will be feeds/social widgets on homepages that integrate with social networks i.e. Ping, Facebook, and Twitter..

Those places are always packed with women. It'll be raining and the place won't open for another hour and there will still be a line outside. From looking around, I have never seen any woman there with a late term pregnancy. What I did see were a lot of women - usually from high school to mid-20's, lower income, probably no health insurance. Since my high school days, PP has always been the primary resource for testing and/or contraception. Through their counseling, which is actually pretty effective, it's also one of the best resources to learn how to be sexually responsible.

Exactly, for those folks who think Kodak was just a film company you're totally off base. They had the diversity but not the vision to adjust to the transition and ended up wholesale auctioning their future. Kinda what we're doing as a country right now.
Kodak believed that their "customers" were the drug stores that did the film developing -- and those drug stores hated the idea of digital photography. So instead of focusing on the their real customers (i.e.: those who used their camera and film) they played to the whims of the drug stores and the entire digital revolution passed them by.
Funny though, one of the best cameras we ever had for producing decent photos was the one that used their magnetic film and showed you what the picture you just took looked like on a little LCD screen. If you did not like the picture you could mark it for "do not develop" and then take another. You saved money on developing bad photos this way and you were still using film (albeit a new kind of film). I can still remember the commercial for that camera with the young couple visiting in Italy trying to get different locals to take photos of them in a specific spot so they could make it look just like an old photo they had of one of their parents in the same spot from decades earlier. Each photo that turned out wrong was marked to not be developed and then they would try again until they got the perfect shot. Funny how they did not see that digital photography accomplished the same thing but in a better way. They really missed the boat.

Typical of a company that has no business model right now; become a patent troll. Kind of a shame, Kodak used to be a great company, but they got left behind by the digital revolution.
